Paul-Boesch-Weg [76]
Hürtgenwald
Paul Boesch was a company commander in a US unit during the Second World War. He managed to capture the village of Hürtgen at the end of November 1944 and finally reach Bergstein.
On the trail named after him, you will gain an insight into the area that was so embattled at the time. You start at the "Brandenburger Tor" parking lot. Right at the beginning of the hike, you can take a look at an American first aid station. Through the valley, which Boesch called "Death Valley", you will reach the "Drei Eichen" viewpoint. Here you have an excellent view over the Wehebach valley to the ridge opposite. On the way back to the parking lot, you will see more foxholes on the right. The foxhole closest to the path was probably Boesch's command post.
