Zwitschernde Vielfalt – Vögel in Wald und Wasserlandschaft
Stolberg
Before you see them, you hear them: the variety of birds at the Omerbach.
This is where forest meets water, and it is precisely this mixture that creates an astonishing variety of bird species. Grey wagtails and dippers follow the course of the stream, while chaffinches, woodpeckers and wrens can be heard in the trees. Even buzzards and kites circle above the open meadows.
But this diversity needs space: old trees, clear streams and undisturbed forest edges are the basis for so many species being able to live here. The Omerbachtal nature reserve preserves this special landscape - and maintains a habitat that is constantly changing throughout the year. This creates a unique soundscape each season.
Tip: Listen carefully. How many different voices can you distinguish? The concert is at its most impressive early in the morning.
