Weheschlucht [46]
Germeter
Contrary to what the title suggests, this hike requires neither a head for heights nor climbing skills. On the contrary: the circular hike is mostly leisurely on well-maintained forest paths. Nevertheless, it is not boring, as the tranquil backdrop of the Hürtgen Forest offers surprises, some natural, some magical. For example, the deeply carved valley of the Weiße Wehe is the scene of a successful comeback. Just six beavers were "released" from Poland into the Hürtgen Forest in 1981. Today, well over 200 rodents are romping around in the Eifel and are shaping their new home with clearly visible zeal. While they shy away from personal encounters, a collection of frogs sitting on a fountain is happy to attract attention. Charming distant views, such as at the "Brandenburger Tor" or "Drei Eichen", increase the enjoyment factor of the loop, which can end perfectly with a stop at the starting point in Vossenack.
