Schlossrunde (A) | MTB-Tour Freifahrt Eifel
Langerwehe
The town of Langerwehe is located on the northern edge of the Eifel, where the low mountain range merges into the Börde landscape. Here you will find beautiful views from the edge of the forest into the Börde, which is characterized by agriculture and open-cast mining. The MTB tour takes its name from Merode Castle, whose origins date back to the 12th century. Today it presents itself in Renaissance style and is considered one of the most beautiful moated castles in the Rhineland. It opens its doors on event days such as the Christmas market, British Flair, Picnic in the Park and several other events. Laufenburg Castle, which was probably also built in the 12th century as a protective castle for Wenau Monastery and is now a place to stop for a bite to eat, is also worth a detour. The town of Langerwehe is known for its pottery museum, which is housed in the old vicarage on the Rymelsberg with a considerable collection, and in the vicinity of which is the old church, the interior of which you should take a look inside.
