Lebensraum zwischen Wasser und Weide – Wo Feuchtigkeit Vielfalt schafft

Stolberg

What looks like a simple meadow is, in fact, a small natural wonder.

Where water remains standing for longer, moist meadows develop – habitats of special importance for water management, biodiversity, and climate. They store precipitation, buffer against floods, and stabilize the groundwater level. At the same time, they provide a home for specialized species such as dragonflies, frogs, and specific plants.

There, marsh marigolds, meadow foam, common hawkweed, heal-all, and common hop clover grow. Particularly lovely is the broad-leaved orchid, a native orchid species that prefers nutrient-poor, unfertilized locations.

Tip: Pay attention to the moist areas along the path while walking. With a bit of luck, you can observe dragonflies, frogs, or special plant species there.
