Laufenburg
Langerwehe
Built in the 12th century, the hilltop castle near Langerwehe served as a knight's castle to secure the territory of the Dukes of Limburg. In addition to meadows, forest and farmland, the castle also included the former "village of Wehe". In the middle of the 14th century, the castle lost its importance when it fell to the Duchy of Jülich. It changed hands several times until it was acquired by the Prym family of industrialists from Stolberg at the beginning of the 20th century, who still own it today. The castle complex was rebuilt after the destruction of the Second World War and subsequently restored, rebuilt and modernized. Today, a restaurant invites you to take a break. In summer, you can sit in the shady castle courtyard or in the beer garden in front of the castle. Hiking and cycling trails invite you to discover Laufenburg on foot or by bike.
