Aldenhoven

Coal mining was a defining feature of the Aachen region for a long time. From 1938 to 1992, the "Emil Mayrisch" colliery was operated in the Aldenhoven district of Siersdorf and was the largest employer in the municipality at the time. In the Bergbaumseum, the history of mining is vividly presented with the help of equipment, lamps and minerals. Literature about mining in the region can be found in the miner's house.
